My Joni Mitchell poem in Tribute to Chelsea Morning

WEST COAST MORNING; ADAPTED FROM CHELSEA MORNING – JONI MITCHELL TRIBUTE

Woke up it was a West Coast morning, and the first thing that I heard
Was a cheeky blue jay callin’me; sounding really quite perturbed
It came screeching in and wakened me
From a slumber deep and full

Oh, won’t you play
Let’s get on with our day
And have fun ‘til the night comes

Woke up it was a West Coast morning, and the first thing that I saw
Were the lace curtains blowin’ in the breeze; casting Angel shadows on the wall
The image dancing vividly in hues of blues and greens
A purple backdrop tapestry like you have never seen

The smell of English lavender, was wafting through the room
A tempting fragrant odyssey, spreading its mystical perfume
Oh, won’t you stay
Let’s get on with our day
We have a million things to do

The forest path beckons us with fairies, ferns & grass
And the streams and creeks and river beds are flowing very fast
The Crows and Ravens taunt us as we visit their domain
Mushrooms burst forth through the Earth, smelling woodsy in the rain

Woke up it was a West Coast morning, and the first thing that I knew
There was toast and tea and marmalade
And a steaming pot of brew
And the sun streamed through the windowpane in rays of red & gold,
Reflecting on the days of old,
So many memories yet untold

Oh, won’t you stay
Let’s get on with our day
The celestial rainforest is calling
“Come in, come in and play”

When the days grow short and winter comes
We’ll bask in memories of the summer sun
And wish upon the ‘full cold moon’
While dreamin’ bout the month of June

A Solstice comes, a Solstice goes
By candlelight, we’ll sing our prose,
By starlight in the Moonscape
Won’t you please stay and play
On this magical day,
Pretty baby, won’t you stay?

Woke up, it was a West Coast morning and the first thing that I heard,
An old familiar songbird—singing….
