Post Election Ramblings

Not being an American citizen, I watch from afar…well at least a safety zone away from all the chaos. It would appear that the country is very divided in terms of what they want or need. Certainly what they expect for the future. Either way, I think it is going to be a time of great adjustment as the transition takes place but I have a feeling that after the dust and mud flinging settles, it will pretty much remain the status quo for the good old US of A…I am not going to get into politics because quite frankly it doesn’t really do a lot for me. I have my own problems to sort out.
I think the best stance I can take is to wish the Country well, count my blessings for being born a Canadian and wait and see what transpires, hoping it will provide some good fodder for future writings.
I think the World overall is a pretty crazy place right now and I lived through the Richard Nixon, Vietnam War era. We chose to deal with it by kind of bowing out of Society and protesting, being hippies and smoking pot…with the extent of protesting with maybe burning a bra or two. At the same time, we had a pretty funky PM who brought the Liberal deal to the table and rocked the Nation with the peace, freedom, love card.
It worked for us and gave us permission to take a reprieve from the establishment and watch from a safer posture.
That book is also in me and in the formulating stage…I think one of six books right now that get snippets of my attention when I need to doodle…for just as an artist doodles on scraps of paper…writer’s doodle on scraps of paper…it still remains ART. The summer of ’69 has grown so much from a short story that I think it is turning into a book called Life with Betty. She was my Earth Mother and a very interesting and intriguing study of survival of the fittest. LOL In some ways she may also represent my greatest learning curve and current stature in life. Together we circumvented the events of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s in a love/hate dance of mother/daughter emergence.
However, my main focus right now after miserably failing at my first attempt at disciplining myself and joining NaNoWriMo for the month of November…I think I’ve written at best 10,000 words. I am actually in the process of writing book 2 in the Moon Sage Theosophies series, and I feel that it is formulating quite splendidly. Though if the truth could be told…I waffle at best between wondering why the hell I punish myself with the grand illusion that I am a Writer and ordering my next box of books in hopes of finding my lost reading audience. I believe all writers like all artists are a divine compilation of neurosis, depression, anxiety and low self- worth, and I can tick every box of the aforementioned ‘isms.
So onward and upward good Soldiers as we greet Monday with renewed energy to face the blank pages that in the end truly must and will be filled. Peace, love, light

Lucky #13…a five star Review

Thank you to Irina Mel(Dura) for the amazing and heartfelt *****five star Review for In the Light. She really wrote a wonderful Review and happily I can say that she really got the content of the book. She was happy to report to me that she has now ordered a paperback copy for her Library so she can refer to it often. Yes, that was the point of the book. A practical reference book for many ‘hot topics’ from helping people dealing with stress, anxiety, depression … people searching for spiritual facts, truths and religions …
Right now I am working on book 2 which is currently being called Transcendent LionHeart, formerly Becoming LionHeart…who knows??? That might change a few times before final print or at least cover design which is also currently in the works. Again, I will say it, no one can possibly imagine the work that an Author puts in during the process of writing, editing, printing and releasing a book. It is a tremendous amount of work that really never ends. I am still refining book 1 and tidying it up.
As a sidenote I am signed up and it is day #5 of NaNoWriMo…I am doing OK, but have discovered a few idiosyncrocies that have caused some delays including the fact that I may have bitten off more than I can chew. I am a research writer meaning most of my material must be researched, sussed out and I have many sources and resources, so writing a book can be very complicated and time consuming and take months to put together. I have received a lot of good advice from fellow Authors about how to deal with this. First and foremost, I must remember that this is a rough draft and that it is far from the finished product. Therefore, I shall endeavour to perservere…I am not going to turn out a perfectly formatted and edited copy on the first GO! Jeez Louise! Get ahold of yourself, Susan…lol
And so I shall plod along and remember that I work best with many irons in the fire, so to speak!

Here is my review for a wonderful little book with a lot of good information on the health benefits of following a program that incorporates the total care of Self…Body, Mind and Spirit. Good job Irina! English is not Irina’s first language so to take on the writing of a book in English is no easy task and she has done a marvelous job!!

Irina writes about her personal journey in conquering, overcoming and winning her 18 year struggle and battle with obesity and her health issues as a result. She offers a valid strong program for changing bad habits and embracing a new lifestyle that incorporates all facets of the human composition. In doing this herself she has lost 77 pounds and knows that daily she must treat her body with respect and feed and nourish it with good things (including drinking plenty of fresh water), but she also knows how to nourish mind, body and spirit which ensures that she has all the bases covered. Irina has done her homework and understands the ‘magic potion’ for success. The information that she shares will be of benefit to people who suffer from a myriad of health conditions from high blood pressure, high cholesterol and pre-diabetes. if you follow her instruction you will see your blood work numbers head in a very positive direction. Congratulations Irina Dura on a wonderful book!

A New Review — #12

I feel very blessed that people continue to read and Review my book.That they give me an honest and constructive review of what they thought of the book.
I can trust their words, and have also taken their comments which have helped me immensely in becoming a better writer, editor and marketer of my Indie books.

Thank you Vicki Goodwin from The Page Turner for a wonderful Review. The words were very thoughtful and I could tell that you took the time to ‘get into’ the book and understand the deep complexities of the characters and the story lines. Writers are always asked “why do you write?” and we always have a variation of different answers: it’s therapeutic, we’re good at making up stories, we want to share our experiences with the world, we want to help people, or even it’s just something we’re good at. Either way, it gives us a good feeling, and that what makes us keep doing it. It’s even better when that good feeling is transferred to our readers.

The way that books change us as readers, our books can also affect our readers. Author Sue Girard has experienced this positive reaction of her books from her readers, serving a therapeutic as well as entertaining purpose. Check out her interview below along with links to buy her books.
The Interview

How many books have you written and where can you buy them?

I have one published book at this time. In the Light of the Full Cold Moon. It is Volume 1 in a 3 book series called The Moon Sage Theosophies. I am currently writing a non-fiction book and a book of Poetry. So three books on the go and one already published.

2. What famous books can you compare to your own?

My book has been compared to The Divide Trilogy by Elizabeth Kay, to The Shack by Wm. Paul Young, to The Duchess of Newcastle by Margaret Cavendish and The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis.

3. Why do you write for this particular age group?

The age group is fairly open and I have had readers from 10 – 95. It has something appealing for all ages and speaks to many different cultures, races, religions and age groups.

4. How autobiographical are your books?

This book definitely draws from personal experience and so is somewhat autobiographical. When you read the Prologue you will get a good indication how this speculative fiction began with my own personal story.

5. What’s the best compliment that you’ve ever received about your writing?

The best compliment I have received from a reader was “This book literally saved my life!”

6. What has been your greatest moment as a writer so far?

I have been a writer since I was a little girl, starting with poems and song lyrics. Then I ventured into short stories and now a published novel. The journey to wellness that I took during the year of writing this book was a magical mystical adventure for this Author.

7. Where do you get your covers?

The first cover came from a stock photo that I found that just completely spoke to me of the vision of the forest that I could see in a meditative state…it evoked the Title as well. Volume 2’s cover is in the works and the book is currently called Becoming LionHeart so the image is formulating quite beautifully. Savannah becomes LionHeart. And so she should!

8. Who is your biggest fan?

Well, Goddesses kind of like my work, but my biggest fans, (yes I have 3), are a lovely lady that lives on the East Coast of Canada, who truly believes in me as a Writer and swears that my book has healing properties (she even takes it with her to the dentist) lol…, a wonderful lady who lives here on the Coast who is so supportive of my writing and can’t wait for book 2 in the Series and my amazing and loving Sister who edits my work.

9. What is next for you?

Next for me is of course book 2 in the Series but I am simultaneously writing my auto-biographical works which will cover a 50 year span, and is very revealing with many twists, unexpected turns and surprises; a riveting, spellbinding read and I am going to publish my book of poetry as well. So, right now I am doing a ‘juggling act’ which is very akin to my nature as a multi-tasking personality. Don’t worry I can handle it…

10. End with a quote (from one of your books, a favorite quote by someone else, or one that has been on your mind recently).

I will end with a quote from one of my dearest Mentors on this life journey, Maya Angelou, who I consider a dear Earth Mother. A Wise and Gentle Sage. I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

Therefore, I try to conduct myself at all times as though I have been blessed with a gift to always make people feel good about themselves and about their Earth contribution and about the interaction that we have as Human Beings with one another, no matter what their position, situation or circumstances in this life.

Gearing UP

I must admit that I am feeling a bit of a lull as I gear up to start organizing chapters for book 2.
I always like to formulate the storyline in my mind before I attempt to start the compilation of chapters.

The research will be ongoing, but the basic outline has been decided; however, one must never dismiss the creative process which tends to have a mind of its own.

Who knows what the final product may render? I am happy to allow ‘Spirit’ to take over and guide my hand and words…as I take dictation from Source.
This is what seems to work best for this Writer.

Things just seem to come to my attention as I begin to write and so I research the info and then let it flow, so to speak.

Book 2 or Volume 2 should write as book 1 or Volume 1 did. I just need to me mindful not to be repetitive and after a very detailed and diverse first book..I must stretch the imagination in terms of fresh content. I believe that I am up for the task, since I am surely not the same person I was whilst writing the first book.

I also have to remember to save some content for book 3 or Volume 3 of the Moon Sage Theosophies…which will be the last book in the Series. I have a feeling that these next two books will flow into one another…and become their own books more by virtue of the number of pages than by an actual hard ending.

Does that make sense? It makes perfect sense to me since what I do is fill notebooks with jotted notes and they somehow become a story.
I know with book 1 I was a stickler for detail and perhaps that is just my writing style and will continue in book 2…I know that I wrote descriptively all the smells, sights and sounds of the seasons…I am beginning again at the same time of the year, but my Universe looks very different than it did two years ago when I began book 1, so I would imagine that it will be new and fresh.
I also have to rely on some recall as my characters journey to other countries in their escapades this time around…

Goodreads Giveaway a Roaring Success

As my Goodreads Giveaway comes to an end at midnight on August 31st, I am ecstatic to report that it was a roaring success. How is success measured in the eyes of a new Author you may ask?
Well, for me I wanted to put my book out there in the Literary realm and see what kind of a response I may get for it.
I set a goal of 750 entries, as a virtually unknown book out there in the Spiritual, Inspirational, Esoteric Philosophy, Speculative Fiction genre.
Happily, I surpassed that goal by some 600 plus entries, garnering 1361 entries, giving me a newfound confidence in these wonderful linking sites.
Goodreads has been a good avenue for me to correspond with other like-minded Writers and Authors. I have made many new friends and gained many readers and supporters.
I have and continue to build my following through this excellent resource. I am learning the complexities of social media all but a little reluctantly or perhaps a little fearfully, as I bravely try my hand at programming.
Half the time I have absolutely no clue what I am doing and can get myself in a real pickle, oftentimes having to start all over again at square one. Thank you to all my friends and fellow Authors in the Literary World who have assisted me with my silly questions about how to even find my admin page…lol
The books that won the Giveaway have been mailed off to the winners and I am so pleased…wishing their enjoyment of the book and hopefully a Review.
I also wish that many others will take the opportunity to read the book and get comfortable with the characters before book 2 in the series comes out in the early Spring of 2017.
I am madly working on it now and all I can say so far is that it will be full of exciting twists and turns and growth for the heroine/protagonist… and yes, there will be at least one antagonist who will seriously challenge this character!
I will continue to build my social media sites and learn how to tweak them to look professional.
